At Westbrook Cycles, we stock and supply an excellent range of rigid mountain bike forks for customers looking to switchover from suspension forks, or replacing rigid mountain bike forks on their existing bike setup. Although rigid mountain bike forks are seen by many as a relic - with modern day suspension forks providing all kinds of adjustable travel and damping, we remain a fan of them here at Westbrook.

As well as being spec’d as standard on some fantastic lightweight mountain bikes, rigid suspension forks are also easy on the wallet - and unlike complicated suspension forks of today, require almost zero maintenance, which is especially useful and valuable during the winter months - where mud, rain and grime means that you are continuously cleaning and mini-servicing your suspension forks. Rigid forks are also lightweight, allowing you to attack inclines and cross country with gusto.

As well as being perfect for winter running, many cross country riders who are using 29’’ wheels find that the wheels soak up enough bumps and rough terrain, to allow them to use rigid mountain bike forks comfortably. Although riders using rigid forks will believe that they are absorbing almost 100% of any punishment from trails and tracks, steel mountain forks actually do a good job of limiting the amount of vibration and impacts which make their way to the rider.

As well as ensuring that your rigid fork fits your mountain bike - the final consideration to take is to ensure that your rigid fork follows the same geometry as your suspension fork - if you are used to riding with short travel forks, you should rise a similarly short rigid fork - to help deliver the same bike geometry and performance. Similarly, if you ride with a long travel suspension fork, you would be best suited to a longer and taller rigid fork.

You can view our full range of rigid mountain bike forks above, and as always - if you have any questions about these products, or their compatibility with your mountain bike please get in touch. Once you have delivered the forks that you want for your bike, we ship your forks directly to you, in quick time and at the best possible prices.
