Pannier Racks are the obvious purchase for any rider looking to transport gear on their bike. Pannier Racks are the racks in which pannier bags are attached to, and can be purchased and fitted for both the front and rear of a bike. One of the first considerations to think about is the amount of weight that you need to transport using pannier racks - a light duty pannier rack, or smaller pannier rack will likely suffice on the daily commute, but if you require more luggage carrying capacity for cycle touring, then a front and rear large pannier rack setup will be needed. Also think about what type of bike you have and whether or not it is compatible with pannier racks, as many full suspension mountain bikes will not be able to accommodate most pannier racks.
Pannier racks have two main mounting methods, there is the traditional method - where pannier racks are bolted onto eyelets on the bike (found on most touring bikes) and non traditional pannier racks which are mounted by clamps onto components and parts such as seat posts.
