Tyres are an integral part of any BMX setup, and tyres play a key role in the performance of a BMX - BMX tyres are also one of the trickiest tyre types to purchase - there’s so many different BMX disciplines, meaning there’s a tyre type for almost every riding requirement.

The first thing to do when considering what BMX tyres to buy, is to measure the thickness of your tyre - as this will narrow down the choice of tyres available. Most freestyle BMX bikes have a 2.2’’-2.4"- diameter tyre, whereas racing BMX bikes will have a thinner tyre size, typically around 2.1’’ to 2.2’’.

The next choice to make is whether you purchase a folding or non-folding bmx tyre. Folding tyres are lighter and easier to pack and travel with, whilst non folding tyres do have the edge when it comes to toughness and resilience - which is often much needed when riding a BMX.
