Triathlon events are massively popular with our customer base, with some of our fittest and most athletic customers choosing to test themselves in these events, which encompass running, swimming and cycling. As with any competition, giving yourself a competitive edge with the equipment and clothing you use, is important - regardless of what level you compete at.
Although many competing at a lower level will simply use a road bike, those competing in triathlons at a higher level will have to use a UCI compliant bike. As well as being compliant, triathlon bikes really do make a big difference when it comes to performance on the day.
The first reason to choose a dedicated Triathlon bike, is the seating position and racing position the rider enjoys. A Triathlon bike lowers the shoulders, into a natural but very streamlined position. The seat also has a steep angle as well as a low headtube, which helps protect the legs for the run ahead. Frames on these bikes vary, but it’s a choice between a light alloy and carbon fibre. Carbon Fibre is the best choice if budget permits, allowing for a lighter and more flexible bike.
Another unique feature of Triathlon bikes, is the presence of tri-bars - which allows the arms to be rested on the handlebars, aiding aerodynamics, speed and comfort. Triathlon bikes also have a unique saddle position, allowing greater weight to be placed towards the front of the bike.
You can view our full range of Triathlon Bikes above, and as always - if you have any questions at all about the collection, or which triathlon bike is right for you - get in touch and we will be happy to help.
