Surly

Surly specialise in bikes that are usually a bit different from the norm. Quite often Surly bikes put a focus on functionality to serve a purpose, such as for bikepacking. A Surly bike will likely have plenty of eyelets to mount pannier racks and places for bikepacking bags to be fastened. Their version of a road bike, the Surly Midnight Special, is designed from a comfort and practicality point of view, focusing on tyres big enough to soak up potholes, rather than being a super aero road race bike. A lot of their bikes don't really fit into any one category at all, such as the Surly Straggler which is a non-racing cyclocross bike, a comfortable mountain bike, an all-road road bike, or a touring bike; whatever you want it to be! Surly also make components that sometimes go against the grain such as the Surly corner bar which are handlebars that allow you to use standard  brake levers on a bar designed to feel like a drop bar.
