The Stance Range of Mountain Bikes from Westbrook Cycles has long been one of our personal favourites, and best-selling entry level suspension bikes. That’s why we were cautiously optimistic about the changes across the range has undertaken this year. The Stance range has enjoyed a serious makeover with a new frame - which provides not only a cleaner and cooler look, but also improved geometry.
Mountain Biking versatility has long been a feather in the cap of the Stance range, and it’s a full suspension mountain bike which offers an enjoyable ride for those used to riding full suspension bikes, as well as those making the step up from a hardtail mountain bike. Providing a great riding experience and performance across both challenging and smooth trails, bike enjoys 120mm of suspension travel, paired with responsible 27.5 inch wheels.
The frame is of course made from Giants Aluxx Aluminium - and like many bikes within the Giant range, now enjoys internal cabling which looks fantastic, as well as keeps cables out of the way of everyday dirt and grime. The 2019 frame is also longer than previous models, and the frame has also been designed to increase the confidence of riders on technical and challenging trails. Tyre clearance has also been increased in 2019, with the option of fitting wider tyres being readily available.
The Stance 1 Mountain Bike has a Rockshox Recon Fork at the front, coupled with a Monarch Rear Shock. The cheaper Stance 2 has a Suntour Axon Fork, and a Raidon Rear Shock. Both provide similar levels of performance, which feels revolutionary to mountain bikers used to hardtail bikes. All Stance bikes enjoy hydraulic disc brakes, as well as mega reliable Shimano groupsets.
In Summary, the Giant Stance range provides the perfect all round mountain bike - which both hardtail bikers and full suspension bikers will appreciate. It provides a smooth ride across a wide range of terrain, at a price point which competes with many hardtails.
