Scott Scale 970 Review & Specs

At Westbrook Cycles, we are big fans of the Scott Mountain Bike Range. Scott has always accommodated all different mountain bike budgets and requirements, without sacrificing quality - and we love the fact that we can get completely behind every Scott bike that we supply, knowing that they will provide high performance, quality and longevity.

The Scott Scale 970 is no exception, it’s the perfect entry level hardtail mountain bike - for those looking to ride competitively and quickly across varied terrain. It’s an incredibly capable package, it has a lightweight and strong alloy frame, as well as RockShox Judy 100mm forks which provide just the right amount of travel and comfort. There’s also a SRAM XC Eagle drivetrain, as well as hydraulic disc brakes - which provide excellent stopping power across varied terrain and weather conditions.

Scott has made this bike ‘upgrade’ ready, so as budget/desire comes available - you can upgrade this mountain bike for increased performance. Tubeless ready Syncros wheels are fitted to this bike as standard, alongside Boost 141 hubs which increase wheel strength and provide better levels of tyre clearance. The cabling on the bike is all internal, compounding this bike as a premium choice over many other options - and the bike can use a dropper seatpost.

As mentioned, front suspension is provided by a 100mm travel RockShox air fork, which has all of the usual features you would expect - rebound adjust and lockout, as well as being highly tunable - allowing the rider to adjust the suspension to their own weight.

The main takeaway from this MTB - is that it’s a high performance bike, which you can upgrade as you develop, meaning this bike will not only last years because of the quality kit & components, but also because of the design.
