New for the Autumn of 2016 the Tripster ATR has been given a total overhaul to make it even more of a class leader. ‘ATR’ stands for Adventure. Tour. Race. Use it for adventure cycling, distance racing, touring, sportives or cyclocross.
We initiated the trend towards a more versatile style of drop barred off road bike with the original Tripster in 2012, since then gravel, adventure and bike packing have become slightly less niche. Following this evolution of riding culture and the change in cyclists needs, we took the chance to offer riders the ability to get all that a rider could want in a Titanium package. We worked with our team of category leading test riders to develop the bike that they wanted. It’s ready for exploring, riding fast and riding far and anyone can buy from their kinesis UK dealer. The previous version was loved on roads and trails from Kingston upon Thames to Kazakhstan and we look forward to seeing where this one takes our customers and friends.
The increasing amount of technical riding that riders of drop barred bikes now seek lead us to increasing the strength of the bike whilst choosing the custom tube set up on the new ATR. We increased the gauge on the down tube and flattened off base of the top tube to allow frame bags to sit securely or for you to shoulder the bike comfortably for longer hike bike sections of your adventures.
The main change is in the rear triangle now with an inboard Shimano flat mount type caliper mount tucked out of the way on the chain stay and thru axle with internal cable routing [ post mount adapter for 160mm rotor included) We’ve developed a switchable drop out system allowing 10 x 135 QR or as supplied 12 X 142mm with through axle [supplied], this keeps all options open when it comes to the rear hub. Thru axle’s gain stiffness laterally whilst increasing the accuracy of the brake mounting and shifting.
We took advice from our ambassadors who are out riding the bikes day in day out and updated the frame for internal routing. Now both brake and shifter cables/hoses and or Di2 wiring go inside the frame meaning all bases covered! This means you can go further with less muck and grim eating into your cables meaning you can have crisp and clean shifting for months on end. Adding a 3rd bottle cage means that you can securely carry even more on the bike using a caddy or even a fuel bottle for trekking across the Himalaya’s the choice is down to you.
The tyre clearance has also been increased, now accommodating up to a 45mm tyre without mudguards or up to a 40-mm tyre comfortably with mudguards. The ever-changing spectrum of available wheels meant it was possible to make the new frame run 650B wheels with MTB tyres and the more traditional 700c wheels. It will now take a plump 650B tyre up to a 2.0 tyre which broadens its ability to take on yet more adventures. We went back to the drawing board to drop the bb height and increase the performance off-road giving it the stable and planted feeling loved by riders for pushing it off-road. This geometry change coupled with the long top tube and a headtube that blends week long riding performance with head down charging This creates a package that excels with a shorter stem and wider bars, and yearns to be ridden. The new ATR will inspire your confidence and allow you to go the distance.
The frame is now sold frame only but can be paired with any fork you choose to tune how it rides.

This high quality, disc brake ready, Titanium frame is built in the same factory as our highly praised Racelight GF_Ti frame.
Headset, all internal routing parts, rear through axle and flat mount to post mount adapters included with frame.
Both bearings are ‘ACB’, meaning ‘Angular Contact Bearings’. The head-tube seat angle is 45º. The headset drops into a tapered seat in the head tube and is tensioned using a headset tensioner within the fork steerer. Tensioning the headset centres it on the taper and prevents any play. The larger lower bearing allows a tapered steerer and larger crown. This gives sharper response and helps reduce flex under braking.
TAPER HEAD TUBE: Machined from Ti billet. The 1.5? lower bearing allows a tapered fork steerer and larger crown. This gives sharper response and helps reduce flex under braking. Increased head tube dia. gives more weld area at the most highly stressed point.
Ti3AL/2.5V: An aerospace grade alloy, 94% titanium, 3% aluminium and 2.5% vanadium. This is one of the strongest alloys of titanium available in a seamless tube form.
CWSR: ‘Cold Worked Stress Relieved’ tubing. The tubing is shaped cold and then goes through a process to remove the stresses built up within the tube during forming.
‘ANTI ROAD SHOCK’ SEAT STAYS: The ‘hourglass’ bend, seat stays are shaped to give maximum comfort for long hours in the saddle.
