Budget and basic bike saddles are typically made from a mixture of plastic and nylon, using steel rails. Further up the range, there are bike saddles which switch steel for titanium, and unsurprisingly at the very top of the range, sit carbon fibre bike saddles which weigh incredibly little compared to their steel counterparts. These carbon fibre saddles are most often used on lightweight race bikes & those wanting to shave weight off their own road bike build.
