Seat post clamps provide that neat finishing touch to your frame, they are often available in anodised colours to match the rest of your bike. We list a range of clamps with both quick release for quick and simple saddle height adjustment, as well as traditional allen key versions, ideal for the times when security is a priority.

Even in an office full of diehard cyclists, it’s often difficult to get people excited when talking about Seatpost Clamps - these clamps, however, are some of the most important components of any bike. Seatpost Clamps are small, but mighty components, without which would render a bike completely unrideable. These clamps are a circular metal ring/collar which sits at the top of the seat tube, gripping the tube and holding the seat-post in place, ensuring that the saddle/seat does not spin round, whilst ensuring the seat-post does not retreat into the frame of the bike

Although bikes do come with a seat-post clamp as standard, there may be a few reasons to buy one - many customers buy these clamps to improve how their bike looks, or are buying a new clamp to replace an older, damaged clamp. Common damage on seat-post clamps includes stripped threads, providing an un-secure fit.

Materials and designs of seat-post clamps remain the same, across all kinds of different bikes - including BMXs, Mountain Bikes, as well as Road Bikes. Although there are a few considerations to consider. One of the most important factors with any Seatpost Clamp is the internal diameter of the clamp - which for obvious reasons must match up. To make things a little easier, there are five different seat diameters available on the market, which are as follows:

  • 28.6mm
  • 30.0mm
  • 31.8mm
  • 34.9mm
  • 36.4mm

A lot of Seat Clamps sold also feature a quick release closure, which uses a small yet strong lever to close the collar on the seat clamp - which means you can open and close the clamp quickly and easily. This is ideal for riders who look to adjust the height of their seat whilst out riding, mostly mountain bike riders looking for a different body position on downhill trails. Although there are clear benefits of using QR seat clamps, many riders choose not to use them - especially commuters who can have their seat stolen quickly. The rock solid grip of a bolt closure seat clamp is also better for road cyclists who want a secure grip.
