MicroSHIFT
MicroSHIFT are a Taiwanese company that has been manufacturing drivetrain products for around 25 years. More recently, more bike manufacturers are equipping their bikes with MicroSHIFT components as it allows them to keep the cost of the bikes down, while still offering an excellent ride experience.
While other groupset manufacturers are shifting towards cassettes that provide more and more gears, groupsets such as the MicroSHIFT Advent X air on the side of keeping things simple. A wide range cassette of 11-48T still provides the same gear ratios that a lot of the other manufacturers, but is only a 10 speed cassette, meaning fewer gear changes are necessary and the steps between each gear are more meaningful. It is designed to fit a standard HG freehub too, making it compatible with a large number of bikes without needing a specific freehub to mount it to.
For gravel bike riders, the MicroSHIFT Sword groupset is available in either a 1x10 or 2x10 configuration, and offers a lower gear ratio than traditional compact road doubles, making it perfect for the hills often encountered in gravel riding. The MicroSHIFT Sword is also more resiliant to the elements and dirt that comes with the territory of gravel riding.
Sometimes bombproof is the only requirement a rider is looking for. If this is you, the MicroSHIFT Advent groupset is for you. This is a simple 9 speed system that can be configured for mountain bikes, road bikes or gravel bikes, with under bar trail shifters, drop bar shifters and even retrofuturistic thumb shifters. It can be used in a 1x9 or 2x9 configuration, with either a 11-42T or 11-46T cassette, making it one of the most versatile groupsets on the market.
