At Westbrook Cycles, we are incredibly proud and excited to be stocking Mondraker Mountain Bikes for the first time. Mondraker is one of the most innovative mountain bike brands we have ever dealt with, only designing and manufacturing mountain bikes.
One of the most exciting things about Mondraker, is their approach to their distribution network - they avoid massive resellers - instead valuing independent bike shops, like ourselves - who have the expertise, desire and need to get stuck into their product range, fully understanding the bikes that we supply to our customers.
One of the coolest things about Mondraker, is the name - which is unlike any other bike brand on the market at the moment. The owner of Mondraker, a guy named Miguel Pina - got the brand's name, after inspiration from comic books and Mandrake the Magician.
The technologies used within these bikes are pretty magical too. The three main pieces of technology used include the Zero Suspension System, Forward Geometry and Stealth Carbon.
The Zero Suspension System, is a unique dual link system - which compresses the rear shock on both ends. The advantage of this is that the rear suspension deals really well with both small lumps and bumps, as well as the bigger hits and drops. Another advantage of this, is the fact that there is increased stability during pedalling.
Mondraker were also amongst the very first to design their bikes with longer top tubes, and shorter stems - a design which has been copied and recreated by many other bike brands. In many cases, shorter stems and longer tubes have become a standard in mountain bike design, assisting both uphill and downhill progress by aiding steerability and stability across all kinds of different terrain.
At the top end of the range, Mondraker Bikes feature ‘Stealth Carbon’ which has been specifically designed to offer the very best that carbon fibre has to offer, including the lightest possible weight, and the highest possible strength.
The range of Mondraker Mountain Bikes also encompass downhill, enduro, sport and cross country disciplines. The Summum is the pinnacle of the downhill range, whilst the Foxy is perfect for the trails - sports fans will do well with the Phase and the Neva and cross country riders should look to the F-Podium, Podium and Chrono bikes.
All of the staff here at Westbrook Cycles have had the chance now to have a good ride on these bikes and many of the staff ride and owned these bikes, even before we had them in stock. All staff have had extensive internal and external training across the range, so are able to answer any questions that you may have.
