- Aether Carbon Ultra-Light Tubeless Valves

Aether takes a completely different approach to tubeless valve design by removing the traditional valve core entirely. Simplified by Design - No tiny core. No tiny airflow path. Nothing to clog.
Its simplified two-part architecture creates a more direct airflow path for easier inflation, improved tubeless setup and reduced maintenance over time.
To further reduce unnecessary mass, Aether replaces traditional aluminium with an advanced long carbon fiber composite construction, resulting in a valve weighing just 2.6g (including 0.6g cap), without compromising everyday usability.
- Mass (+/-0.2g): 18–30mm rim depth: 2.6g & 30–55mm rim depth: 3.1g per valve
- Colour: Carbon
- Compatibility: All rims designed for presta valves. On pump side: All presta compatible pumps
- Materials: Carbon fiber reinforced polymer and rubber o-rings
- In the box: Two valves with corresponding caps and nuts
Carbon fiber reinforced. Not machined
Instead of CNC-machined aluminium, we use long carbon fiber-polymer composite injection. This allows for significantly lower density (around half that of aluminium) and greater design freedom for optimized internal geometry. The result is a valve that is not only lighter, but engineered differently from the ground up. Despite weighing just 2.6g, Aether’s long carbon fibre composite construction delivers exceptional structural strength - demonstrating that ultra-lightweight does not have to mean fragile.
A different valve architecture
To eliminate unnecessary mass, we moved away from the traditional removable Presta core. Our design uses a bottom-sealing mechanism, inspired by early valve concepts from 1915's, where the sealing interface sits at the base rather than the top. This simplifies the internal structure and creates a more direct air path—without the typical restrictions of standard Presta cores. Sealing elements remain rubber to ensure reliable, airtight performance.
Built for road and gravel
While many modern valves focus on high-flow MTB designs, often adding bulk and cost, we prioritized what matters for road and gravel: Low weight, Compact form and clean integration with modern rims. Reducing rotating mass at the wheel may seem like a small detail; but it’s exactly where weight matters most. And MTB? Aether remains fully functional on MTB setups and retains the same advantages in simplified construction, direct airflow and reduced clogging. However, the performance benefit of reducing rotating wheel mass is naturally more noticeable on lightweight road and gravel wheel systems than on heavier MTB setups.
Designed for Real Tubeless Conditions
Tubeless valves operate in a harsh environment filled with latex particles, sealant residue and constant pressure fluctuations. Aether was engineered around a simplified internal structure with fewer interfaces and fewer areas where sealant residue can accumulate over time. By eliminating the traditional valve core entirely, Aether creates a more direct airflow path while removing one of the most common sources of clogging and maintenance in modern tubeless systems. The result is a valve designed to stay clear, inflate consistently and remain easy to live with long term.
Why the non-serviceable construction?
Aether shares a similar bottom-sealing concept with valves such as Fillmore, but differs significantly in internal execution. During development, absoluteBLACK observed that many serviceable valve designs require additional internal retention features and interfaces which themselves can become accumulation points for dried sealant over time. In other words, the very complexity required to make such valves serviceable can also create the need for periodic servicing in the first place. Aether was therefore engineered around a simplified internal structure with fewer interfaces and fewer areas where sealant residue can accumulate.
