GT Transeo Review

The GT Transeo range of hybrids, is one of the most utiliaterian, diverse and useful collections of hybrid bikes on the market. There are plenty of models with different specifications available, including womens GT Transeo models. These hybrid bikes are designed to be true off road performers, combining great on road performance and manners, with true off road capability. The Transeo range is as comfortable off the beaten track as it is on smooth roads and tarmac. Component wise, all of the best manufacturers are found across the range - with Shimano, GT own and Tektro parts being spec’d and found across the range.

We have ridden the Transeo range a great deal, managing to get our hands on a demonstrator model. The hybrid bike carries great speed on the road, not quite road bike speed - but not a million miles off, so it's an efficient performer which makes it ideal for use on the daily commute and recreational rides alike. Climbing on the bike also felt good, the bike felt light on the road and the gearing was spot on. The bike we were riding was also fitted with panniers and mudguards - making it even more of a do it all machine. We did not push the boundaries of what the bike can do off road, but it swallowed up gravel based trails with relative ease - as the suspension forks fitted to the front of the bike would suggest it would.

The bike stopped very well in all weather conditions, thanks to powerful disc brakes. The 700cc wheels were efficient and rolled well, and the standard issue Schwalbe Land Cruiser tyres provided plenty of grip across all road surfaces.

Specification wise, you can expect to see Suntour NEX suspension forks, Tektro Novela Cable Disc Brakes. The bike has internal cable routing, and the frame of the bike has GT's recognisable triple triangle frame - which is designed to transfer energy and movement to the top tube, rather than the seat tube - so bumps and vibrations are felt less.
