Assos is one of the world leaders in producing quality cycling clothing and accessories. They operate from an area of Switzerland which is well known for its quality textile industry. In the 1970's, Toni Maier-Moussa, the founder and chairman of Assos completely by accident, invented lycra cycling clothing, whilst trying to produce the ultimate bicycle. During the wind tunnel tests of the first ever carbon-fibre bike, Toni found that downhill lycra cycling clothing produced much less drag than the popular woollen, knitted clothing of the time and it proved to be a huge hit!
