At Westbrook Cycles, we stock and supply an excellent range of Dirt Jump Bikes, also known as DJ Bikes or Dirt Jumpers. These bikes have Low & Short Frames, which leads to a very low standover height as part of the critical geometry of the bike. The handlebars, however, remain tall - these bikes usually have a suspension fork and can be hardtail, or they can also have rear suspension, providing around 100mm of travel.
By their nature, Jump Frames are designed to withstand drops, jumps and knocks - so the frames are usually made from aluminium or steel. A couple of popular wheel sizes are available, the most popular being 24 inches or 26 inches. The tyres on the bike are usually slick or semi-slick, perfect for use on compressed dirt and concrete.
Jump Bikes also rely on their brakes less than other types of bikes, such as BMX bikes and mountain bikes. So there’s often only a small disc brake or a rear brake. Jump Bikes also do not need many gears - so most jump/dirt jump bikes are single speed.
