Oversized Pulley Wheels are a fantastic upgrade for many riders, they have shot up in popularity in recent years - with many riders rocking a new and often incredibly colourful Oversized Pulley Wheel, also known by their abbreviation of OSP.

Although they may have been brought to your attention for the first time recently, they actually have been out within the industry a fair while - and some of our staff members claim to remember OSP’s as far back as 15 years ago.

As well as looking flashy, OSP do serve a purpose - they increase power transfer on the bike by around 4 watts. Although this does seem like an incremental gain, it’s a gain which can be felt on longer rides, including longer mountain bike rides and longer road bike rides.

These products work by keeping the chain on the bike as straight as possible - which directly improves and increases the amount of power going to the cassette. OSP’s also improve the crispness and reliability of gear changes, with the chain shifting between cogs on the cassette more smoothly.

Another benefit of using an oversized pulley wheel on your bike is that an OSP increases the lifespan and performance of your drivetrain, it does this by reducing the friction on the chain, cassette and chainrings.
