Hydration
Packs

Hydration Packs are incredibly useful to have on a ride, as well as eliminating most of the requirement for bottles of water to be carried - hydration packs also allow cycling and mountain biking essentials to be carried safely and securely, with equipment which can fit in a hydration pack ranging from spare cash and car keys, across to puncture repair kits and extra warm kit.

With so many hydration packs available on the market, personal choice dictates which hydration pack that you choose. Style and size are the main drivers of choices, but extra features and specifications should also be considered.

Regardless of the hydration pack you choose, all are designed with an integrated water bladder/reservoir - which provides hand free operation through a drinking hose, usually fitted with a bite valve. Hydration packs also come with adjustable straps for comfortable fitting, as well as rear padding for extra comfort. There are a range of internal pockets to keep your valuables secured and safe. On top of this, hydration packs are constructed from the toughest fabrics and materials, so they can put up with a life on the road of the trails.

Hydration Pack sizes do vary, and the size you require will depend largely on the type of riding you do, and over what period of time you ride. Those riding short distances and journeys will be fine with a small hydration pack, which has a water capacity of between one litre and one and a half litres. Standard trail hydration packs have a larger capacity, carrying up to three litres - with plenty of pockets and storage to carry everything you need for a day on the trails.

Hydration packs for enduro riders or those who spend all day on the trails, will benefit from choosing a 'backcountry' pack which as well as having a large water carrying capacity, will also have plenty of storage space, clips, pockets and attachments to make a day on the bike even easier.
